Preparation of food and drink and its enjoyment is taken very seriously in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fast food is almost non-existent if we exclude “ćevabdžinice” and “buregdžinice” although they could be considered as a sort of slow food venues. All the food in Bosnia is prepared and relished in slowly with a good company and a chat as an imperative. The meals are large and are mostly comprised of meat, vegetables and dairy products with spices being used moderately. The dishes are mostly stewed and cooked while desserts, coffee and a spirit is an indispensable part of the eating ritual.
